Compression therapy

Compression therapy is a common treatment to help improve blood flow in your lower legs.

Compression therapy is the therapy of choice for the management of venous (vein) conditions, such as a during and after healing of a venous leg ulcer, and in disorders of the lymphatic system (e.g. chronic oedema, lymphoedema and lipoedema).

Compression gets to the root of the problem and it is therefore really important that once it’s done its initial job, it is continued in the long-term. Here you can discover how compression works, why it is important to wear your compression to heal venous leg ulcers and prevent them and any swelling from coming back.

You can also read all about the different compression products available, from wraps, hosiery, application aids and more.

Compression therapy is used for the treatment and prevention of venous leg ulcers and other lower-limb conditions, such as swelling (also known as oedema). Compression works by squeezing your leg(s), which encourages movement of fluid from the tissues and blood to flow back towards your heart, instead of pooling in your lower limbs where it results in
symptoms such as swelling and ulceration.
